Dial-Up Software Download Tips
Here are some tips on how to download software more quickly and conveniently on a dial-up internet connection…
1. Check your connection speed before starting a large download; if it is low (under 30 kbps), try disconnecting and reconnecting to gain a (potentially) higher speed.
2. Avoid software downloads in excess of ten megabytes (10 MB), and try to download from FTP sites when possible (rather than using HTTP/WWW sites).
3. Be careful not to do anything which might freeze up the computer during the file transfer; if this happens, the already downloaded portion of the file will often be lost.
